Academic Associates Learning Center uses effective learning techniques to help students from Dallas, Texas, strengthen their reading skills. During one-on-one sessions, an experienced, certified teacher can see how your child approaches each word and respond as they work through it.
Our reading program follows a step-by-step phonics method. Instructors teach students to recognize sounds, connect those sounds to letters, and work through unfamiliar words. Lessons also address:
- Phonemic awareness: Hearing the individual sounds in spoken words
- Decoding: Using letter-sound connections to read new words
- Fluency: Reading more smoothly with practice
- Vocabulary and comprehension: Understanding words and what a passage means
These effective learning techniques give students a process they can use beyond a single lesson. Each session is individual, so the instructor can spend time on a skill your child finds difficult and begin to move forward as their understanding grows.
Parents are always welcome to sit in during lessons. You can watch what your child is working on, ask questions, and get updates from the instructor.
