At Academic Associates Learning Center, we know there are many reasons why some students struggle academically. For example, many students struggle with learning disabilities, which can impact their ability to master the skills they need to keep up with their peers.
Our team has extensive experience in education, so you can count on us to provide the support and accommodations your student needs to succeed while coping with their learning disabilities. In this article, we’ll go over a few ways to help students with such disabilities succeed in school.
- Identify Needs – When working with students with learning disabilities, our team always starts by identifying the student’s needs. To do this, we use various assessment tools, and we talk to the student directly to get a better sense of how they approach various tasks. Once we have identified areas where the student is struggling, we can create a plan to address those issues.
- Provide Accommodations and Tools – Many students with learning disabilities can benefit from using various accommodations and tools. For example, many dyslexic students find reading easier when the text is set in a dyslexia-friendly font, and students with dysgraphia (which affects the ability to write by hand) may need to do their work on a computer instead of on paper.
- Offer Personalized Support – When working with students with learning disabilities, our team provides personalized, one-on-one support. We always keep the focus on learning to use strategies and tools to effectively address their needs, and we celebrate their progress as further encouragement.
