At Academic Associates Learning Center, our phonics programs have helped hundreds of children improve their reading skills and foster a love of reading. Our phonics programs are for all ages and reading abilities, and we are excited at the prospect of having your child enroll in our program.
If you are unsure if your child could benefit from our phonics programs or not, here are a few signs that enrolling them may be the right move:
- Your child says they don’t like to read—Most younger children, especially as they first start learning to read, will be extremely enthusiastic about the process. If your child tells you they don’t like to read, it’s usually not because they don’t like it, but because they find it too difficult at this point.
- Your child lacks knowledge of words and sounds—Does your child only know a few letter names or sounds? This can occur in children who are having a hard time grasping print and phonics. In some cases, it can be a sign of dyslexia.
- Your child overuses reading strategies—Using context clues, for example, can help students learn to read. But if a student continues to rely solely on using context clues or other reading strategies to get through reading material, they could use some intervention.
